New Jersey Stoneware Blue Script Jug, "Case's Cider Vinegar"
Couldn't load pickup availability
A fine New Jersey stoneware jug with colbalt script. The jug also bears the stamped and cobalt highlighted advertising "Case's Cider Vinegar/Clover Hill/Hunterdon Co, N.J."
The jug is in excellent condition with only a couple "flea bites" at the edge of the base. The cobalt is especially vivid and the script delivered with a beautiful hand.
Attributed to Fulper Pottery, Flemington, NJ, Circa 1890-1900.
These script jugs are unique to the New Jersey tri-state area and were often used to hold cider vinegar. The jugs were frequently decorated in script with the grocer's name.
