Large Mid Century Hand Painted Ice Cream Signs - A Pair

In the best tradition of roadside Americana, this rare and wonderful pair of enormous ice cream signs scream fun. Making skilled use of abbreviated commercial imagery, famously later employed by the pop art movement, these signs are designed to stimulate the senses.  With their limited text and bold colors and shapes, these signs have a definite carnival art look and were likely used in that context.

Painted on tin and nailed to their original painted wood frames.
